The wind screamed as Keith drove the runner down the side of the massive dune, sand kicking up all around them as the beginnings of the sandstorm brewed. Behind, the massive fish monster let out a bellow that sounded oddly muffled, like the monster was underwater.

“Oh, come on!” Bridget exclaimed as the swarm of monsters converged on them, all attacking one right after the next.

Keith couldn’t spare the attention, keeping his eye straight ahead as the sand began to rise, obscuring them from the monsters’ view. This was not how he’d thought the night would go. Behind them, the bellow came once more, followed by a rumbling crash.

He threw a look over his shoulder and saw the massive monster was coming after them, its massive head trailing whiskers, like that of a catfish, as it slid on its belly. The head rose easily fifteen feet into the air, which showed the true size of this terrifying monster.

Keith’s Discerning Eye gave him the monster’s description, though he didn’t have the time to look for long, as his attention needed to be on the ground in front of him.
